As a small business owner, you’ve likely already come to the realization that you need a website. An increasing number of customers and clients are searching for what they need online rather than through traditional methods. That means you need to be able to provide them a resource they can use to learn more about your business, who you are and what you can do for them.

All that being said, you may not know what pages you actually need on your website. If you’ve spent enough time browsing around online, you’ve probably noticed some pages that pop up time and time again. However, how do you know which ones are really essential for your business? Once you’ve made a decision regarding the content writing you need for your website, how do you get that writing done? To get started, let’s take a look at the first page any user lands on when they head to a business’s website – the Homepage.

Before you get caught up in thinking about the About Page, policy pages, and other pages you might hire a web content company to write for you, it’s important to think about what you need in a Homepage for your website. 

If you’re a regular Internet user, you already know what a Homepage is. However, you may not be considering the fact that a Homepage can be quite different depending on who you are and what you do. What’s vital is that your Homepage captures the attention of anybody who lands on it. It can do that by being well-designed, by having catchy headlines, and by being able to load fast enough that your visitor doesn’t become impatient and click away. About the About Page

There’s a reason the About Page is one of the most visited pages on any website. People want to make deals with other people and they head to this page so they can decide if you’re the right person for their needs. That means the About Page is where you have an opportunity to let website visitors know who you are and what you’re all about. 

Here, you can showcase important details about your company’s history, its core values, educational accomplishments, awards and honors you may have, or any other information you deem important. For example, I once published a short story alongside “Game of Thrones” author George R. R. Martin. I would probably mention this on my About Page if the service I was offering on my website was for writing.

What’s Your Policy?

The first thing to think about when it comes to policy pages is whether or not your business needs them. Not every website will. However, those businesses that are selling products online will likely need some form of eCommerce privacy policy to ensure the protection of both themselves and their customers. It is wise to have privacy policies if data is being collected. You also need shipping, refund and return policy pages for the aid of your customers.

It can be difficult to understand exactly what to put into these pages, especially if you haven’t had practical experience with them before. Writing terms and conditions for businesses is especially important because they need to be written out clearly and accurately. This is why a terms and conditions writing service can be beneficial, regardless of whether you are utilizing a content writing service for the other pages on your website. 

Getting on the Same Page

You still may not be entirely sure what pages you need, even if this blog article has convinced you at least to plan for a Homepage, an About Page and the applicable policy pages.
